BFAC About Us
Have you, or anyone youʼve known, been affected by cancer? Has the idea of combatting such epidemic been discouraging? Cristian Salas; President & CEO of Band For A Cure, has been haunted daily by such thoughts of discouragement and heartbreak. Recently, Salas was informed his cousin Raymond was diagnosed with Leukemia. Salas was instantly taken back, stunned to hear that a deadly disease entered his family circle. By targeting such a young and innocent soul, the monster epidemic, cancer, showed no intention of slowing, or offering refuge. It was clear more needed to be done, and the thought of this was on Salasʼ mind every day.Salas grew up with a love and curiosity for music. He became largely involved in the music industry in 2002, when he was asked to sing for the band Single Handed. The project was small, however, for three and a half years it allowed him to grow as an individual, by touring and performing on a national stage; the Vanʼs Warped Tour 2002. After the project became obsolete in mid 2005, Salas stayed in the music industry for a couple more years involved in management, marketing, and booking for various bands. At this time, Salas had no idea that his musical experience was going to lead to the incorporation of a causal movement.
In 2009, after not having much success in the music industry, Salas decided to take a break and applied to San Diego Stateʼs Community-Based Block (CBB) Masters program for Counseling. It was then, when Salas came upon the idea to help fund cancer research and cancer treatment based organizations through music, thus touching those in desperate need of hope; cancer victims and their surrounding loved ones. This was simple; combine his passion for music and love for his family to create Band For A Cure (BFAC), a musical movement for cancer and an organization that will contribute towards discovering a cure from this global disease.
Salas was joined by Samuel Levine and Ryan Wade to commence Band For A Cure, a non-profit organization structured to aid with not only awareness, but also, to aid in the funding of cancer prevention, treatment research, and patient care. Levine, appointed COO, aids the company by managing general operations, and brings a solid business foundation built upon drive and experience. Levine, is constantly helping guide the growth and development of BFAC with his insight and vision. Wade, another music enthusiast (composer and musician for Uriah), has been entitled CFO. In addition to both Levine and Wades substantial educational and business backgrounds, both have grown with Salas over the course of nearly twenty years and have mutually envisioned the merger of music and a greater cause. By living, breathing, and developing BFAC, the trio have become consumed by the endless future potential that not only BFAC has, but also the development of cancer treatment or preventative care the music industry may have a part of.
Join the movement of BFAC, and not only be a part of the banding of national talent, not limited to music, and help touch the lives in such need, help shape a better future for those who are and will be effected by such epidemic the world has come to see.
